Sarah Hughes is NOT Jewish!!!! I know that because, I, myself, am a Hughes
from my maternal grandmother, and I can ASSURE that you that there are NO
Jewish people ANYWHERE in the Hughes family tree. The Hughes family has plenty
of Irish and Scottish, but NO Jewish people in the Hughes family tree. Where
in the HELL do you get the idea that the Hughes family is Jewish?!?!? Now,
there is Jewish in other parts of my family tree, but there is NO JEWISH
WHATSOEVER in the Hughes family tree. The ONLY Jewish ANYWHERE on my ENTIRE
family tree comes from my paternal granfather, who was a Jew from Central
Europe. There are are NO Jewish people ANYWHERE on the Hughes family tree
going back at least to 1865. The family tree can be traced back as far as
my great grandmother, but that is as far back as records go. Birth records in
the British Empire were not kept much before then.
Virtually ANYBODY with Hughes in their family anywhere is descended from a
once prominent family on the Gold Coast of Australia, but some feuds and
infighting tore the family apart between 1922 and 1938. Various parts of the
Hughes family emigrated to other Australian states, including Tasmania (where
my mum was born in 1936), Canada, New Zealand, Britain, and the USA. Wnen I
attended middle school and high school in the USA, there was one girl who was
a distant cousin of mine. We also went to the same college for a few years,
and she TOLD me, in the 1990s, that Sarah Hughes is a distant relative of our
clan, and that she was born in Surfers Paradise, Australia on 12 August 1984.
Sarah was born to an Australian dad and an American mum. Apparently Sarah
started skating at a young age, and was considered to be a potential champion
long ago. And they were right, Sarah won the gold medal, for AUSTRALIA, at the
2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
