I am writing this from Hermosillo, as I head south towards Costa Rica.
Whenever I pass by the ExpoForum arena, I think of the one
incindent, which is now in the annals of skating infamy, the
Phony Dress Opening, one of Tonya's stunts that she pulled
at the 1993 North American championships.

There are a few cities along Mex 15 with ties to skating. The
next city down the line on this trip will be Navajoa, where
Russian pairs skater Yuko Kawaguchi was born on 30th
December 1980 to ethnic Japanese parents. She is a Russian
citizen, but was born in Navajoa.

Had we continued on broadcasting sports, we would have
been broadcasting 2012 Four Continents from here.

I am now in Navajoa. I am putting a lot of km behind me
as I head south.

Navajoa is known as the birthplace of two sports stars.
In addition to Russian pairs skater Yuko Kawaguchi,
former Dodgers pitching ace Fernando Valenzuela was
born in Navajoa.

Keep checking this thread out as I point out more
points along my drive with ties to skating
